Reflections for Police Officer Timothy Q. Brenton

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

I recently came across this page. Although I only moved to Seattle a year ago, I thank you for making Seattle a safer place. The city has changed a lot now, good or bad. Thank you for your service to the country and the city; rest in peace!

I miss you everyday. I often wonder what kind of fatherly advice you would have given throughout the years. You have a grandson now, everyone says he looks so much like you. I wish you were here to teach him all the things you taught me as a child. Life never got easier after you were gone - you left too big of a hole in our hearts to be repaired. I hope you know how loved you are by all.

You were a native son of the city of Seattle. You became a cop to protect the city that you came from and made the ultimate sacrifice to the city you loved. Eternal thanks from the people of Seattle including yours truly. You are still not forgotten even 14 years later after all that has happened and your killer died in prison.

I teach elementary school now and help give my students a healthy respect for police officers. Every October I teach them about Tim Brenton and what kind of man he was. I was on watch that night with the Seattle Police Department. Never forgotten.

I didn’t work with you but we gathered at your memorial out at 29/Yesler every year,. The city forgets quickly the sacrifices that have been made, but your legacy and name live on in the dedicated people who are still on the watch in George Sector - and always will be.

What a wonderful person and in contrast murdered by a horrible person, for know reason.
It's evident he was a good training officer by the response of his trainee under the worst circumstances
