Deputy Travis Gibson was my great great grandfather on my dad's side of the family. My grandmother always told the story about it being the last hanging in Tennessee. My grandmothers name was Nannie Jane Lay Tilley. She was born in Elk Valley, Tennessee. I don't have much information on her, other than being a Lay.

Deputy Travis Gibson is my great-great Grandfather. Many Gibsons were lawmen or city administrators in Campbell County. Lord William Gibson arrived in the Jamestown Colony in 1625. Gibsons can be traced back
1000 years to clans Gibson-Buchan in the Scottish Highlands. The Gibsons
married into the Owens, Finley, Atkins, Patton and Hatfield families in
Tennessee and Kentucky.
I am proud of my family and Deputy Travis Gibson

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 155th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
