Reflections for Police Officer Milburn Wilbur Beitel, III

It is a shame that at such a young age this man was taken from what he obviously loved to do. So many of our Emergency workers are killed because of negligent drivers, it is a wonder that some of them even hear our sirens.
With a saddened heart may you RIP.

God bless your family. You will be missed. The last time I saw you was at the range where you were teaching recruits. You are a selfless person who was always smiling and telling jokes. I will always remember you. Class 5/03 graduation February 18, 2004

I think about your senseless death and anger flares my soul
I think about the family you left, the tears in your children’s eyes
I can still feel the loss emanating from the Officer’s standing side by side
Tears streaming down their cheeks, for once not held back
A senseless death, so much pain
Why does the murderer live and we carry you to your cold, dark grave?

I watch as they carry your flag draped coffin
Honor Guards lining the way
Standing in rows, beside and behind were men and women with badges and stars upon their chests
We all came to say goodbye and mourn the loss of our Brother
Does God need Police Officer’s in Heaven?

Some day, your family and friends will look upon your memory and smile
Though at first they could only cry
They will remember that wry sense of humor and your easy smile
You had such a great sense of pride in what you did
You wore your badge and uniform with honor and integrity,
Which still shows through those you have trained and your family and friends

Standing in rows beside and behind
Hands saluting your passing
Badges and Stars shining brightly on their chests
They stood proud and tall for you
Yet for once, their tears fell with the rest
Some were there to say goodbye to a Father, a Husband, a Brother and Friend

The bag pipes played "Amazing Grace"
The Thin Blue Line closed it’s ranks with one Officer less
All this happened as we escorted you to your final rest

Goodbye Brother, God Bless
All Officer’s, Order Arms

Your move from our earthly ranks was not planned or expected but know you are now among the most loved and honored of our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, those who like you have paid the ultimate sacrifice serving God's children here in our communities but now serving all God's children in His heavenly kingdom. As you meet and consort with these honorable and loving new partners know your name will not be forgotten by those you left behind and they will care for your family. Your honorable service will always be known to all in our ranks for all time. Rest in peace brother. In Christ.

For Police officer Milburn (Millie) Beitel III:

Our duty as law officers takes into many dangerous situations and none greater than when traversing a United
States Highway. Performing our duty where response time
is of essence only adds to the peril.

To have forfeited our life in the performance of duty is both tragic and honorable. Each of us that enforces the law and occupy a vehicle run this risk. Training and alertness reduces our chance of being a fatality, but, sadly, does not eliminate it. Our brother "Millie" is the latest among us that joins a league of heros above who await to embrace him.

Our thoughts and our prayers are with his family, his friends, his co-workers and all who care about him.

I am proud to render Officer Millie Beitel a final salute.

Lord I ask for courage
Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of the body to protect others
And strength of the spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication
Dedecation to my job, to do it well
Dedecation to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
for others who trust me
and compassion for those who need me...
And please Lord

Through it all
Be by my side...

NEVER FORGOTTEN...
