David will be remembered as a great soldier, policeman, husband and father. He selflessly gave to his country all that a man can be asked. He did so without reservation, in several capacities and in full recognition of the price that may be asked. As a soldier he ensured that the American way life and our ideals of freedom and democracy were represented with honor and courage at our adversaries door. As a policeman he helped guarantee that families throughout Texas could sleep easy knowing that a night sentinel was guarding their safety. As a husband he provided strength in times of weakness and understanding in times of need. As a father he was the role model of courage and sacrifice, and the patient instructor for how to be a young man.
He was a man of gentle spirit, easy laughter and fierce beliefs in the righteousness of good over evil. He understood that certain men of courage and bravery were needed to fill the ranks of our nation's heros.
God Bless David,
Rob

I was very shocked to have received this news prior to coming to work today. I feel an undescribable emptiness to have lost a friend who I have known as, first, a dear father and husband to his fammily, and a deputy who concerned himself to serving the community he loved so much. I will miss him dearly. My condolences to his family and especially my friends at Burnet County Sheriff Department who share the same recognition of Deputy Blake.
