I can not explain the sadness and pain that we all feel as a result of this horrific tragedy. I hurt for the family of a deputy who was doing what he loved to do. I am continously praying for the family. I am so sorry this ever happened.

We buried you yesterday. The turnout was amazing, and I don't believe you could have had a better send off. The intense sadness was felt by all during your last call, each of us knowing that as they called you on the radio....you wouldn't ever respond again. I think of the memories from the academy and wish I would have spent more time talking to you. Appreciating your quiet humor. I'm sure we all wish that we could have spent more time with you, especially your beloved family. And while I know your in heaven patroling the beats with the other officers, having answered a higher calling, I can't help but feel as though this world is a little less bright without you in it. Our class will never be whole again, you will never be replaced, you will never be forgotten. We will pick up where you left off. We will make sure your loved ones are always loved. Goodbye brother, you can rest. We will cover your beat now.

It's a tragedy to lose such a fine young officer with such a promising career and life ahead of him! Thank you, Deputy Etheridge, for your service and for all you sacrificed to keep your community safe. I pray for all those left behind-his family, friends, fellow law enforcement officers. You're in so many thoughts and prayers, may it help you to know that the public and communities across the state grieve with you all for this life cut too short. May his young daughter always know what a hero her daddy was and all the lives he touched. Rest in Peace, Deputy Etheridge, for it is well-deserved.
