My prayers go out to the family of Deputy Brian Etheridge and all my law enforcement brothers retired and active.
Matthew 5:9 "blessed are the peacekeepers, for they shall be called the children of God".

(Ret) Capt. Bryan Brimer
Sedgwick County Sheriff Dept

His sacrifice will not be forgotten...he will be long remembered by all of us that wear a shield or a star, even if we did not know him.

His loss reminds of us of how precious life is and how short it might be for those of us who wear the badge. Out of our sadness will come the strength to put on the uniform again tomorrow and fight the good fight for Brian and all the fallen how have gone before him.

May his family find strength in knowing that all officers stand ready to comfort & support them in these dark days.

Sheriff Ron Ridley
Hodgeman County Sheriff's Office (KS)

September 29, 2009

My prayers and thoughts go out to Deputy Etheridge's family, friends and co-workers.
I know that it doesn't seem real. Your thoughts will always be of him every day and one day the good memories will come and it will be easier.
May God bless you and give you strength in the days, weeks, months to come.

"Another One Fell"

Dark glasses can't hide
the tear stained eyes
of the warriors,
these men and women who aren't supposed to cry.

The silver covered
by that thin black line
an all to familiar sight this day
along with the pain that no one can hide.

Taps sounds, the guns go off
it only serves as a reminder
of what we all have lost.
one more deputy gone

But the hurt felt will last so long
for no longer in the streets of hell
a final call is given in honor
to another one that fell.

I would like to say, stay strong with your faith, for god has plans for us all. I was close to loosing my son, when he was hit head on by a woman driving down the wrong side of the highway. She had alzheimers. And even though my son lived, its was the most divestating time of my life, and still suffer from his coming so close to dying. I was praying so hard last night that another miracal would happen. And i'm so so sorry for your loss. ALL LOVE AND THE GRACIOUSNESS OF GOD'S LOVE BE WITH YOU.

Sir, I pray for your family. You put on your uniform yesterday knowing the dangers you faced, and did not fail to uphold your oath. You are now in that pale realm of shade with the 6 other Sedgwick County Deputies, and it saddens the sheriff and his deputies to see another picture hung upon the wall. Let God be with your family and the department, and please heal their pain.
