There are no words that help the pain you are going through when you lose a child, a partner, a parent. You are not alone so cling to each other and hold in close. At the hand of another makes it worse but God will be the judge now and Brian will be held tight and warm in the loving arms of our creator. "Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy" -- I reflect on this every day since losing my son and it helps me through. Getting through it is all you will every do -- you never get over it. God be by your side.

I know there isn't anything we can say to compensate Brians' friends and family for his loss.
We would just like those close to him to know ....
we are grateful for his service...grief-stricken by his early departure from life... and humbled by his sacrifice.
And to those left behind.... may He hold you in the hollow of His Hand.

A message to Brian's wife,
from a Policeman's wife...
I am a Policeman's Wife
A policeman's wife I'm proud to be
but in my heart I know
he might not make it home again
each time he's called to go.
I believe that as his wife
I h...ave a special part to play
to encourage him and love him
and support him all the way.
He always does his very best
but society has it's flaws
and he's in danger everyday
from those who break our laws.
And so I say a prayer and hope
that there will come a time
when we don't have to live in fear
of violence or of crime.
I know that he is the bravest man
that I will ever see,
and I will try in my own way,
to match that bravery.

I am getting my uniform ready for your funeral tomorrow but I cant stop from thinking about you and your family. I was out on scene when you were hurt and I along with the other officers and deputies just knew that it would be a hard fight for you but you would be ok. So when we got the call from the hospital that the Lord had called you home, I still remember the feeling how some of your friends that you just had lunch with were starting to cry and the feeling of sadness that started to spread. I dont want to go tomorrow but nothing could stop me. You rest easy, we will take it from here.

This whole deal is so senseless. Such a great young officer, with his whole life ahead of him.
God Bless Brian's family, his wife, and young daughter. God help all the officers to be strong in this difficult time. Again, we are all one family in Sedgwick County Kansas.

My family and I are praying for you and your family. My god bless you. Deputy Etheridge you are a HERO!
In Time of Sorrow...
May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.

To Deputy Brian Etheridge, to all family members and friends who call him beloved, and to his law enforcement family:
I was sorry to learn of Brian's death and extend my sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered. Words are insufficient to describe the sadness I feel for the Etheridge family. May you find comfort in your faith and the support of the law enforcement community.
There are many police survivors who share this same journey with you, and that community will be there to support you. Brian's memory will be forever honored and revered.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Brian gave to his community and the citizens of Kansas and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 28, 2009.
