I was a very young officer working for Auburn PD when you were murdered and still remember it vividly. Yesterday I got to view your name on the National LE Memorial Wall and I realized just how much that day shaped many things about my career. Though we never met I am proud to have served in the same county as you for a time.

I have known James and family since childhood. James and his wife always had a way to make people smile and were good down home people. He didn't care what or who you were; his caring nature was true and genuine. The Lee County Sherrif's Department truly lost a great man and mentor. To his wife and children. You are truly blessed to have had a husband and father that you did. My prayers are with you all for God's peace and comfort during this trying time in your life.
Rest in peace James. You will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of this officer and with his fellow brothers and sisters at the Lee County Sheriff's Office. The trial is such a hard thing to endure and even with a conviction, there is still a long road ahead. Please know that you do not travel that road alone. I take some small comfort in knowing that 2 cop killers in Alabama were convicted of capital murder this year; the murderer of my brother-in-law Officer Phillip Davis of Pelham (EOW 12-04-09) and now the murderer of Deputy James Anderson. May they both rest a little more peacefully.

James, It has been two years since you were taken away from us here in Lee County, and yesterday was just as hard as the day you were taken. I do not know if it will ever get any easier but I know your presence is still felt by many here in Lee County. You had a way with people that when you were in the room, no matter what mood someone was in, you could get them to smile. Things are just not the same anymore without you. But we all hold you in our hearts until we can meet again. See you at the Crossroads until then you are in our hearts and minds as we remember the joy you brought into our lives. RIP James, your are gone but never forgotten.

I also ask that all of your brothers and sisters in blue do everything in their power to help your family, especially to be there with them during the trial process of the individual that caused all this grief. James you were truely a hero to soo many people. I only had a 11 short years with you, but you sure do know how to get inside someone's heart and make them feel like a big part of your life. You always treated me and my family like we had been a part of your family our whole life. You opened your home to us and made us feel like were welcome there anytime. You made me laugh till I cried, scared that i said the wrong thing, and sure that i was in the right family, but most of all you showed me the way a family bonds together in times of need and that above all else that you love without limits the ones love. You will live vicarriously through the ones who knew you best and loved you most James. I know you are in heaven watching over all of us, protecting your family like you always did. We will rest knowing you will always be on watch. Love you James and we will miss you greately. Lee, Iralena, JD, Brittany, & Harley.
