I just got home from an evening dinner with my wife. We drove down to Florence S.C. for the evening. I try to check ODMP everyday so that I will always remember what the dangers of this job can be. I passed two S.C. Troopers on I-95 at a construction zone. Both of them had vehicles stopped on the shoulder of the roadway. I just finished my tour of duty at 5pm today. I could not help but pay close attention to the Troopers as I passed by slowly. I commented to my wife that I am 40 years old now and I have 15 years on the Patrol....just like this brave Trooper. I imagine that this Trooper did the same as he traveled with his family throughout the state. This tragedy is absolutely heartbreaking but I am sure that this tragedy that has been posted for all to see will save a Troopers life tomorrow. Simply because he wanted to view it and reflect on it. Just maybe a citizen will view it and be more careful when they are traveling throughout their state. Just maybe this tragedy will save someone else's life. I guess that is the only good that can come from such a loss. God Bless Trooper Nash's family and just know that lots and lots of Troopers will view this and pay their own respects in their own way.
