I had the honor of being Jerry's immediate supervisor on the Charleston Police Dept. We became very close as Jerry requested to work under my command. He was an outstanding officer and an even better person. The type of man that all of us strive to be. He lived his faith every day. I held his hand on this fateful night. I lost a brother that night. I grieve for his wife, Sam, whom he always talked about and loved with all of his hearts. My thoughts and prayers to his family and all his brothers on CPD and the USMC. I will miss you greatly and I am sorry I couldn't get you home that night. I will continue your watch but I will miss your friendship and walking side by side with you. R.I.P. my brother. God speed and I love you.
