Being the wife of a law enforcement office, I am forever grateful to Patrolman Jones for his service, his honor, his commitment, and his bravery. His act of heroism on the night of 13 September 2009 made my community safer. He gave the ultimate sacrifice any officer, soldier or airmen can give - his life. He gave his life to protect me. He did it honorably and he will never be forgotten. Unit 155, Car 107 - Rest In Peace... knowing that you are remembered.

No words can explain the heartache that Jerry's family, my brothers in blue, and I feel. Every time that I spoke with Jerry I felt as if we had knew each other for years. He was very easy to talk to and gave me a feeling that made me forget about any problems that might exist in my life at that time. Just a head nod as we pass each other before and after roll call gave me this surreal feeling of comfort. I am currently serving in Iraq and although I cannot be there to mourn and pay my respects with CPD, I feel comfort in knowing that he was never left alone since that dreaded night. As you watch over us Jerry, we will watch over your family. We will never forget your ultimate sacrifice and we will all miss you Patrolman Jerry Jones may you rest in peace.

Thank you, Officer Jones for both your service to this country and to your community.
I didn't know you, but my heart still broke when I heard of your death. Your job is difficult, often thankless and always dangerous. The average citizen doesn't understand any of that, but I know your family, friends and the entire law enforcement community does. Yours was the ultimate sacrifice, and for you and those like you, I am thankful.
To the loved ones you left behind, you are in my thoughts daily. I can't even imagine the grief you are feeling, and I'm so sorry that anyone has to endure something so tragic.
"All gave some. Some gave all."
The world needs more with the dedication and strength that you possessed. Thank you for all you've done.

Jerry was laid to rest yesterday in a small country family cemetery. The burial was preceded by a heart wrenching service at Charleston's Municipal Auditorium, in which Police Chief Brent Webster retired Jerry’s unit number, 155. During the funeral procession citizens of all ages and other emergency services lined the streets of Charleston waving flags, saluting, or holding their hands over their hearts. In the rural part of the county, citizens brought lawn chairs out to sit or stood in front of their homes to wait and pay respects as the procession passed. Drivers pulled their cars to the side of the road and stood outside them in honor of Jerry. He was an outstanding man and he will be greatly missed. Samantha and family, we are here to support you as best we can. Semper Fi!
