Reflections for Corporal Joe Byrd
Officer Byrd was my great-great uncle (he was an uncle to my grandfather on my fathers side.) We still have your sidearm in the family sir, a pearl handled .32 revolver. We will never forget.

Corporal Joe Byrd was my great uncle by marriage. He married my grandmother's sister. I never knew him but I have a photo of him. Thank you for pulling him on the website.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 76th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

Officer Byrd,
It has taken over 73 years, but you are finally being honored. I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of South Carolina. It took another 3 months, but your murderer finally got the justice that he deserved.
