Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Jesse Thomas Hamilton

Thank you for your commitment to your job and the city you proudly served. Our profession was weakened with your loss. You have not only impacted the lives of citizens, but also thousands of your brothers and sisters in law enforcement.

The biblical meaning of the name Jesse is "God exists". How fitting a name since you portrayed this for all to see. You will always be the epitome of what every good officer should be, tough on the beat, but tender at home.

Your sacrifice is not in vain, as you will NEVER be forgotten. Your family, along with the Pasadena PD family is my prayers.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. - Matthew 5:9

To the Family, Friends, and Members of the Pasadena Police Dept,

I attended the funeral service of Officer Hamilton along with two other members of the Longview Police Dept. Honor Guard yesterday. There was some laughter and there were some tears. I had never had the distinct privilege of meeting Officer Hamilton personally, but he was a brother in the same profession and I felt that I had a common bond with him. There were so many officers who came from all over Texas and surrounding states which so impressed me.

The highlight was the pastor of Grace Community Church's message, although all others who shared were wonderful as well. All I know is that when I left that church, I left a better Christian as before and I had a greater sense of appreciation for being in law enforcement.

My prayers are with all of you, confident in the fact that I will one day indeed meet Jesse and will get to also share with him at the feet of Jesus.

In His Name,

Sgt. Jack H. Lanier, Jr.

To friends and family, I attended Officer Hamilton's funeral service yesterday. I did not know the young man, but yesterday I was able to see what a great person he was. I was glad to hear that he was a man of faith and I know that brings comfort to you. All the pictures and the video were very powerful and I was moved to tears several times during the service. God bless you all during this time!

"My Brother"

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Rest in Peace Officer Hamilton
