Reflections for Police Officer Jesse Thomas Hamilton

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

Yesterday I went to PPD for the first time in many years. I saw your picture on the wall, and honestly it felt very heartbreaking. You were so young, and it really made me feel so sad how you were taken so early in life and your career. I reflected for a moment on how good of a Person you were, and thought about how honorable you were as an Officer, Person, and family man. You were always professional and treated everyone like family. Years later, You are now the kind of person I look up to in life. It was just on my mind, how much I wish that I could now shake your hand and tell you that Sir. GOD bless you, and thank you for your Service.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Jesse exactly one year ago today is when you were killed at your first dispatch call of your shift. I remember going off duty from my night shift as you inserviced on day shift, that day (Friday, 8/21/09). Who knew your very first call would have been your last. I wish I could have been there with you on that call, I wish I could have had the chance to tell you bye. It still hurts deeply having lost you but I know the Lord has his reasons and our faith in him makes it easier to accept but the pain still remains. We miss & love you Jesse. Look over all of us as we continue our watch. Until we see each other again in heaven.

Jesse, I just wanted to stop by because I was thinkin about you. The time has began to heal the pain we all felt when you were taken from us. The pain that none of us got the chance to tell you good bye, even one last hug and to see that trade mark smile of yours. The peace we get comes from the fact we all know your in heaven and that your happy. I just wanted to let you know that we still miss you deeply and no matter how much time passes and the pain weakens I assure you that you wont be forgotten. My prayers and admiration go out to your parents and family they are the best. Their faith has kept them so strong even with all the pain they have suffered. God bless the Hamilton family. PPD (co-worker/friend).
