Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Stephen Michael Gallagher, Jr.

Most can not understand why we do this job, but I assure you that these reasons are never selfish. To have lived your life with courage, honor and in service of others, is a life well lived. To the family left behind, please find solace knowing your loved one has made a difference in this world and that you again will be together in paradise. Thank you my brother officer for your service and now, rest in peace.

We did not know Mike well, but constantly heard good things about him. He left his children and wife with reasons to believe in both marriage and fatherhood and that was a good legacy. He helped to give Christianity a good name, and that was the legacy that surpasses them all.
Our prayers go with all those close to him in this difficult time of transition to life without Mike. Just know that God goes with you and will hold you up. And when the burden gets too heavy to bear, remember these words that have helped us through more than one crisis:
"When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Thy consolations delight my soul." Psalm 91:14

With MUCH love and MANY prayers.

Mike and I were in the academy together, Class 619. He was always quick to help others in the class. He had great experience, and it showed. After graduation, we mostly went our separate ways to our different agencies, but I know he made an excellent deputy. Rest In Peace, Brother.

DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME"
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path god laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turn my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Task left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Than fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow,
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
