Reflections for County Policeman William Lee Cape

I wished I was born back then. I’m your family. My mother is named Tara Michelle Cape. Her father is Rudyard Kipling Cape. I might have misspelled the first name.

For more on Lee Cape see "Legendary Lawman: The Last Raid of Lee Cape." North Georgia Journal 8 (3) (1991): 41-45. I wish that the family would apply to have Cape added to the national memorial to fallen Law enforcement officers in Washington.

Willie,
There is no doubt that my uncle was named after you. Your names are identical and you are from the same area where my branch of the Cape family is from. He was killed on Normandy Beach in WWII and my father Lonnie Ervin Cape gave me his middle name: Lee. I pray for you and thank you for your many years of service. Stanley Lee Cape

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 83rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace
