Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Robbie Chase Whitebird
Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.
Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:
“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]
[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]
And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

Chase I truly Miss You My Brother, more like my son. Everyone knew if they wanted to find you all they had to do is find me. I remember the countless times you would spend at saber with me as I worked security on my days off from county. How you brought Nicole to meet me and get my approval for asking her to marry you. You told her if pops didn’t approve the marriage would have to wait, how funny. How you always had me buy your dinner when we was on shift so you could afford that flat screen. You told me that was my job to buy your dinners, what I wouldn’t give to buy one more!!!! Your last birthday I got you that Smith & Wesson knife because I had one. The clip on LED Lights you could clip to your cap and the clown horn, that was your new lights and siren. Chase theirs so many people that miss you and would give anything to have one more day with you. I miss you pulling up beside my units and calling me pops!!!! I will not let anyone else call me that, that was between us. Your brother gave me that brown leather holster you used. He said you would want me to have it,that you wanted to be just like me. When he said that the tears started rolling,I thought of you as my son and I wish I had been there that day. Donnie and I would never let you go through a door first, you was to young and had the rest of your life ahead of you. I’ve been trying to teach the green horns the danger of our job and how to look for certain things, how fast your life can change with a single heartbeat. I would give Everything I own to have a day with you and yet that wouldn’t be enough. I know you are in a better place and looking down on your brothers in blue. I think of you and it brings a smile and tears. You Are Missed and Loved!!!!!

Today is the 9th anniversary of us losing you. Your light still shines in our hearts my brother and you will never be forgotten. We had the candlelight vigil tonight and got to see your family and Marvin's family again. There were a couple of guys singing songs and playing the guitars and all I wanted to do was cry. We are trying to stay strong for your family and for Marvin's because they have been so strong in the face of this horrible loss. I miss you so much Chase as do many others. Paul Smith spoke of you briefly as he did Marvin and everyone was touched by his heartfelt comments. You are fondly remembered little brother and you always will be. Continue to watch out over us and we look forward to the day we will be together again. I love you man.

We still miss you little brother, every minute of every single day. I miss your friendship most of all and the way you and Freddy were always going at each other in fun. Our hearts are made heavy even more right now because a neighboring city lost a hero and he was even younger than you when you made your ultimate sacrifice. It never leaves my mind how we lost you and how we miss you but we know you are looking down on us and shining your light on us. You have a new partner now and his name is Justin Terney. Greet him and walk with him and show him that we will never forget him. Freddy and I talk often about the fun we used to have with you and Dee. We sure had some crew back then and we will again someday be back together. I look forward to that day my friend, my little brother, and my hero. I love you and I miss you Chase, you will never be forgotten.

Chase,
I know you can't read this, I know that you hear my prayers every night. I know that you're in my heart and on my shoulder. I just still can't believe that you aren't here with me anymore. I have been going through all the comments that people have sent you. I've been crying all along. They're bittersweet tears. I see how much people love you and miss you. It makes me feel a little less alone. Keep watch over our brother and i'll see you some day, Bubba Bird.

My son attended the police academy with you. He got to know you and thought highly of you and your overall demeanor. He said you were always upbeat and putting smiles on the faces of fellow cadets. He was in a state of disbelief and deeply saddened when he got the news in July of 2009. Even though you and I never met, I was affected in the same way as my son because you two were classmates, and most importantly, he considered you a friend. Rest in peace, my brother.

Bittersweet victory today for Chase. His killer entered an agreed plea of guilty on 6 counts related to the murder of Deputy Whitebird. He was sentenced to 2 terms of life without parole, 3 terms of life, and 10 years for the last charge. Praise God he will never be a free man again. We love you Chase and miss you terribly. Rest in peace brother, we have the watch now and thank you for walking beside us all the way.

Today marks a year since you and Marvin were taken from us but not a day has passed that you have not been thought of; both with sadness and laughter. You lit up a room with your smile and ability to find humor in the toughest situations. I was blessed to have had the honor of working with you.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.
Rest In Peace.

I had the occasion to work with & visit Chase from time to time when he would make his way down to Konawa to our Department. Chase was always in a good mood & seemed to always be smiling. Chase was one of those Officers that was ready to do what ever it took to get the job done.

Brother, I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that you're gone. I can say I truly enjoyed working with you. I have so many fond memories of sitting at Mazzios eating with you Tim and the medics. I remember the first time you radioed for help on my watch when I asked you to pick up the domestic suspect out in the county. I was thinking to myself there was no way in Hell I was going to let someone hurt my brother in blue. Unfortunately, I wasn't there when you entered the door serving that warrant. Every day I wish I had been with you Marvin and JP in the hopes something could have been different. I miss you brother. But, we've got it under control down here. Rest in peace my friend.
