No words can make this easier for any family, just know that the Simmons'Family send prayers for you. We feel a certain kinship to the Montrose PD. For the family and friends of Sgt. Kinterknecht,

I was saddened tonight when I arrived at work and discovered that another Colorado Officer had been murdered. I immediately informed my troops that we would be shrouding our badges for Sgt. Kinterknecht and we spoke about the shooting incident in our briefing before we hit the street. Our prayers go out to the family and friends of Sgt. Kinterknecht as we... and all other Colorado Peace Officers shround our badges in rememberance. He is a true hero and he will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace my brother.
