Reflections for Detective Marc Anthony DiNardo

"We Remember the Officers"

We remember the officers who changed our lives,
The men and woman who protected us day and night,
People who respect for their dedication to the cause,
For when faced with danger, they never even pause.

We remember the officers who always stood true,
Whatever the color of uniform, brown gray or blue,
With pride and integrity they say "To serve and protect",
For the giving of their life, we offer our respect.

We remember the officers who we never really knew,
Persons strong enough to answer the challenge are few,
With heavy hearts we mourn the officers in eternal rest,
There's more to these people than the badge on their chest.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Deputy DiNardo's family, friends, and co-workers. As a department that has recently felt the pain from losing a fellow brother in blue I send my condolences. May you rest in peace you will not be forgotten.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

As a fellow SWAT officer I know what it means to hit a door under those circumstances. You are a true hero. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers, especially the next time my pager goes off in the middle of the night and I have to leave my own at home to worry for me.

Marc,
I was speaking to another officer after you passed the other day. The other officer said that he had been to other police funerals before and he received a life's lesson from it, whether it was to go to the doctor's office more often to get checkups, to always carry a weapon off duty, etc. However, this officer said that he cannot think of a lesson from this tragic event. Everything was done correctly. You were approached with a scary, horrific, intense situation and acted heroicly. So I did some thinking; what can I take out of everything that has happened to make myself as strong and selfless as you were?

After we laid you to rest on Friday, I looked at your wife and three beautiful children and it came to me. The lesson is as simple as it is complex.

To spend as much time with my wife and children, as much I can.
LIKE YOU DID.
To love my wife and children as much as I can.
LIKE YOU DID.
To face life's difficulties with a big smile.
LIKE YOU DID.
To be as strong, heroic, selfless, and altruistic.
LIKE YOU WERE.

Finally, I want you to know that I will, hopefully, in my lifetime be able to measure up to the man that you were.

Rest in peace brother. You will always be in our hearts.

Lord,
He was yours to give,
and yours to call home,
please stand by his brothers,
so they don't feel alone,
dry the tears of his family,
so they clearly can see:
that he gave his all,
so all could have peace.
Blessed are they,
the children of God,
with heavy hearts,
and honor they trod,
to pay their respects,
to give their salute,
and to ask for your mercy,
ON HEROES IN BLUE.
Amen.

As a former W Orange cop, I remember working with your ESU and agency on several instances. Nothing but professional assistance from a professional group of men and women. Several of my friends work in the South and the West. Watch over them for me, for your job here on earh is done. Condolences to your wife and children, co-workers, and the entire City. They lost a great cop, and a great man. Rest In Peace.

"My Brother"

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Rest easy Brother Marc DiNardo, we have the watch...

”I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

You answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest easy in God's kingdom and watch over us as we continue the battle here on earth!!!
