I had been following this story ever since the incident occurred on the morning of July 16th. I hoped that all would recover from their injuries. My thoughts and prayers go out to Officer DiNardo and his colleagues who are still lying in their hospital beds fighting for their lives. My thoughts also go out to the men and women of the Jersey City P.D. and the other agencies who were there on that horrible day.
To Officer DiNardo's family, I cannot fathom your loss but hope you will find some consolation and pride in the fact that Officer DiNardo was a great man who made the ultimate sacrifice for his friends, family, colleagues and citizenry of the Nation.
Rest in peace sir

I am deeply saddened by the LOD death of Police Officer Mark DiNardo. The heartfelt appreciation of a truly grateful American citizen goes out to his family and friends. He served honorably and faithfully, answering the call of duty when he was needed.
I'd like to express my sympathy and deepest condolences to his family, and that they are in my prayers during this time of grief. I hope his family knows that people all over the world recognize him as a true hero. That even in his passing from this earth, he is still giving life to others. I hope the fact that he is honored by so many people bring them some comfort in this time of loss. I hope they feel the comfort and love from across this nation embrace them and hold them up during this difficult time. We will not forget him and will forever be in his debt for all he has done for us. His family are in my prayers.
The officers of the Jersey City Police Department are in my prayers during this dark time as they continue the mission of making our world a safer place. To each of you I say a big “Thank You” for doing what you do everyday. Thank you for going into “the office” when you don’t feel like it. Thank you for standing out and directing traffic in the rain. Thank you for working the night shift when we are safe in bed. Thank you for putting on that uniform everyday. Thank you for going through doors, even though you know what is behind them. You are all heroes. I don’t know how often you hear it, but I’m certain it’s not nearly enough. You are in my prayers.
