Joe, we only knew you for 3 years, but you've impacted us so much. Your smile, your hugs, your stories. The way your face would light up when you talked about your family, or how much better your Mets were doing then our Yankees. We'll miss the banter and the laughing. We looked forward to seeing you everyday. It'll be hard not looking for you, but you're with God now. We'll see you again, friend. You'll always be a hero to us. Thank you for your service and always being there. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your wife Tonya and your children, especially Allie.

I remember growing up and having you around constantly. You were like a second father growing up. The memories of helping you and my dad make trophies or the memory of disney world and halloweens, parties and powerlifting meets. Those times you would pick me up from school in your police car. You will be deeply missed and loved forever.

Joe Harris was an exceptional person who touched everyone he met. I was given the honor of meeting Joe when I worked at Enchanted Hills Elementary and asked him if he could bring Harley to my program and talk with the children. After that first meeting any time I called and ask if he would bring Harley and visit with the kids he never said no. Since that time I have been at 2 other elementary schools in Rio Rancho and all it ever took was a phone call and there would come Joe and Harley to play and visit with the children. He would even come to the summer program that I did and just play and talk with the kids, Harley always at his side. His always had a smile on his face and a hug waiting to be given! His family was his pride and you knew that anytime he talked about them because his face would light up. He was such a gentle giant who made you feel safe. All my love and prayers to Tonya,Allie,Harley and his boys. He was loved by us all and will be missed by everyone. His passing will leave a huge hole in our Rio Rancho Community and in the lives of the everyone who met him. The saddest part is that our children of the community who never got the chance to know him now never will know how hard he worked to make a difference in this world for them and how much he loved children. Joe, you will be missed for a lifetime! I know you never set out to be a hero but a hero you are to all of us!!!

JOE HARRIS. I met as a police officer at Rio Rancho. Joe was part of the Dare program and was all about the children and education. I also was a server where Joe and his wife, daughter and two sons would come in and eat. I remember when Joe would participate in the Highland games and throw a tree. Joe Harris is a devoted husband, father and friend. We will miss him.

It is with a heavy heart and many prayers that we have lost a brother who was devoted to his sworn duties, family and friends. God speed dear brother and enter into eternal rest and rejoice with those who have gone on before you and will meet you again in that day and in the presence of him who gave his own life for us to be reconciled to God with forgiveness for all eternity. Your watch will be covered by those who will miss you but never never forget you.
