Reflections for Police Officer Giovanni L. Gonzalez
"Mark 1:35
The next morning Jesus awoke long before daybreak and went out alone into the wilderness to pray.Luke 5:16
But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.Matthew 4:2
For forty days and forty nights he ate nothing and became very hungry.
The spiritual disciplines were central to Jesus’ earthly life. Because he accepted the limitations of humanity in becoming one of us, Jesus had to maintain a continuous healthy relationship with his Father and dependence on the Holy Spirit for empowering. If the Son of God relied on spiritual habits to stay connected to God, they must be important.

Matthew 25:29
To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who are unfaithful, even what little they have will be taken away.

Geo, it was great seeing you grow in Gables and to see you take the first step to get to the FBI. It’s a shame that you were called home before being able to make the step up to the alphabet soup! Rest easy brother, we have the watch now!

Son, in a few days you would have turned 33. I continue to miss you every single day of my life. I know the Angels on heaven will be playing their harps, lyres, and cymbals on the 21st celebrating with you the day our Lord gave me the gift to have you. Missing you forever, happy trails sweetheart, until we meet again.

Seven years had passed, and it continues to feels like yesterday. I would never be able to understand why? Why? But, I can't do anything about it, I see you in me dreams, in a child's smile. We both know the Lord will reunite us, I pray in the near future- Gosh, I miss you so, so much, it's so painful. I saw you in my dream you were waiting upon my arrival and you were wearing like a white toga, and had a red rose to give me. Son, thank you so much for the memories for all the caring and love you left here in the little time you were given, you were, and continue to be a special person & spirit. RIP my sweetheart. Mom forever in my heart and thoughts.

Gio,
I think about you and all the fun times we had in middle school in Ponce. You were always full of funny jokes and you were my biggest crush back then. You grew up to be a great person and you are missed everyday.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the third anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

To all of the Police Recruits in our nation, and to the rookie Police Officer's, I ask you to give 100% to your family and safely be the hardest working professional that you can be for your respective Department. I ask this, because Gio was exactly that. A model Police Officer and far more, a outstanding son.
I was Gio's Sergeant, but more importantly, he was my friend. I am confident that God had a plan for him and I trust God's will, direction and guidance.
God Bless our real superstars, the Law Enforcement Community!

I still remember the energetic kid with the braces who entered my class every day and said, "What's up, Ms DixEN??" Gio's passion for life and people I have never forgotten. To the family, especially Elaine, I offer my condolences. Absent with the body=present with the Lord.
