Reflections for Investigator Chadwick Alan Carr
Thanks for the hard work you put in as an instructor for my LE Basic Academy. I will never forget your strong passion for what you were teaching and I am blessed to have had such a wonderful instructor. Rest in peace knowing that you taught me well and I will never forget the lessons learned. I never imagined how our class motto would hit home so hard. So from LE BASIC 87, "HEROES LIVE FOREVER!"

I knew Chad from when he was with the Orange County Sheriff's Office. He was always full of life and was an all around good guy. One of the things I remember about him is that he was always willing to help. He will be missed by so many. Rest in peace, Chad... you will not be forgotten.

Chad, I know you'll never read this but I feel the need to say that you were a great guy and cop and your dedication was noticed and admired. The lessons I learned those days doing domestic violence role playing with you will never be forgotten and may one day save my life. Thank you. Man, you will be missed. Rest in peace, brother.

Chad, I would say you will live on through your sons, but your going to do much more then that. Your going to live on through every Officer/Deputy you taught. You worked hard, and it showed. I remember when I saw you about a month ago, and you were the same guy, easy going and relaxed. I'll see you on the other side.

Chad you will be greatly missed! You are an awesome person and a great teacher. Someone that I know first hand by teaching with you at the academy new recruits looked up to. You were a jokester from way back when we went to high school together but always got serious when it counted. I can't say enough about your dedication to the career you chose and anyone who got a chance to work with or around you should consider themselves lucky. May you rest in peace and my thoughts are with your family in this sad time. As many have said before me "We will take it from here brother!"

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I know of no words that will suffice. No words that are adequate. I would like for the family, friends and co-workers of Investigator Chad Carr to know there are folks all across this nation that will lift you up in prayer before the Almighty.
May you each experience the eternal love and endless blessings of our Lord and Savior in the coming days. I am very sorry for your loss.
