Sometimes our journeys are slow and tedious and at others they are in a split second. As we all travel to the kingdom of our Lord we never know the manner or time it will be. Always know my brother that our Lord has a time for each of us and when he brings us hime it will be an eternity of love, peace, rest and freedom from all pains, all tribulations and all uncertainties. You are now with all our honorable and heroic brothers and sisters who have also given the ultimate while protecting and serving God's children in our communities. Know you will never be forgotten by your brothers and sisters in the badge left behind and they will care for your family. Rest in peace brother. In Christ.

Police Officer David R. Loeffler,

It saddens and infuriates me greatly to hear of your passing after many years of pain and suffering, inflicted by an irresponsible, intoxicated driver that has no regard for human life. Thank you for your service and dedication to the proffesion-LAW ENFORCEMENT! A hero indeed, one who is never forgotten....

Each year hundreds of lives are lost on highways across this nation form Drunk Drivers. Each of us, who wears a badge and patrols the highways has a Zero-tolerance for drunk drivers. I am one who vigorously strives to make the roadways free from those who drink and drive.

My sincere and heart felt condolences go out to the Loeffler family, friends and fellow officers. May GOD comfort each and every one who mourns the loss of this noble, valiante officer.

For Police Officer David R. Loeffler:

The passing away of a brother officer, after many years of suffering, and after having been run down by an intoxicated driver, is sad on two levels. First, it illustrates what can happen to any young, newly-trained officer. And it can happen to others, also. Secondly, it illustrates that it occurs time and time again.

Each of us, who wear a badge and patrols, can tell a story. Each one is a tragedy.

Further, as law officers, we have a duty to demonstrate that this cavalcade of carnage on our highways will be dealt with vigorously and strictly. We who mentor have a duty to must teach and instruct others to have a zero tolerance for the drinking driver. We must set the example. It is what we do. It is our lot.

My deepest thoughts are with David's family, friends and fellow officers. I have not enough words to soothe. Only to say that he has attained very noble status - hero - as a soldier-of-the-law. He is one who has sacrificed greatly. It has earned him high honor. None can be higher.

To Officer David R. Loeffler I am pround to render a final salute.
