A warrior dies, he gave his best, he gave his all. Who said there are no heroes. I pray that God accept you into His mansion and provide a place around His table. I pray for peace and comfort for your family and your comrades. I pray for justice to be done but if not now I know the Supreme Judge WILL render justice for His investigators will solve the crime. Rest easy my brother, we have your back.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

My heart is heavy at the news of this young officer's passing. My thoughts are prayers are with all those who know, love and lost Alex.
The heartache, pain and endless reminders this family will endure is all too familiar to me and an experience I live with on a daily basis. The scene is all too familiar, the gangbangers all too familiar to the scene my family was faced with 8 years ago this month. As with Alex, my brother, was doing a job he was passionate about and loved.
It never ceases to amaze me that whenever you hear of these tragedies, the victim was a person that encompassed all the charisma, compassion, spirit and love of life envied by many, possessed by so few.
I know there are no words that will ever take away the pain, emptiness and loneliness your family and friends are feeling. Life is so very unfair! All I can offer is the comfort in knowing that all the memories you carry can never be taken away...no gangbanger, no judge, no verdict. Carry those with you for comfort and a smile. May God bless you and help you through these difficult times.

Officer Valadez,
I never knew you personally but being a member of the law enforcement family I feel like I lost a brother. You, your family and your fellow CPD Officers will forever be in my prayers. You gave the ultimate sacrafice, and for the that the citizens of Chicago will forever be in debt to you. I hope that everyone who knows you realizes that is not how you died that made you a hero, it's how you lived your life. You will forever be a true hero in my eyes, as well as everyone else in law enforcement. Rest easy my brother.
