I cant believe that its almost been a year that you have been gone. Seems like just yesterday that we were just graduating the academy. I see little Alex every now and then . He looks so much like your mom and Brenda. I am sitting here looking at your picture as I am writing and still can't believe that you are gone. Gone but not forgotten. I will run, bike and volunteer for everything I can for you in your memory. miss you much Alex.

To the surviving fiance of Alex Valadez:
I spoke last week with another surviving fiance and wanted to reach out to you and offer my condolences for I know you have a very heavy heart as does Alex's immediate family. Although my earlier reflection didn't make mention directly of your own personal grief, I know the dreams you had of a life with Alex were also shattered.
I pray for solace for all those who love and miss Chad. May you too get the support you need from the law enforcement community. God bless Alex's new son.
Rest In Peace, Alex. I am so sorry you were robbed of your life at such a young age.

Alex, I remember the day we started the academy together. I also remember the day we graduated the academy together, we couldn’t wait to go out and hit the mean streets of Chicago. I would have never thought I would be sitting here writing this about any of my fellow academy buddies. You always had a smile on you’re face. I think about you all the time brother. You are missed, and you will never be forgotten!

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Valadez and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Valadez, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Valadez is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
