Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Roberto L. Rivera

We were brothers who had our pay checks mixed with each others, Bobby was always and still in my heart as I find myself praying for his surviving familia. Bobby watched ny back and I watched his when we wroked togther in the 44th Pct., pre-JTTF days. I went to the DEATF, and he wanted me to join him, but alas God had other plans for each of us. Our mutual families were as always the most important part of our lives. Hence my prayers and love for his too. Though they may not know me, that's not important. What is relevant is Bobby's legendary efforts for his, brothers, sisters in blue our city, country and closest to his heart once again, familia. I can never nor want to ever forget you Bobby,
my hermano, my namesake, as he called me in our e-mails. I am blessed to have known and worked with him.

Another year went so fast my brother. So many of us getting sick, and more of us obtaining
medical assistence from various hospitals. May you continue to rest in the arms our lord, and that he watches over your loving family and all of us who were there at those three sites. You are a hero and will be remembered for your devotion and sacrifice to the citizens of N.Y.C. Although we never met you were well respected by so many. So, until the day we meet, we all who are still living salute you. All BLUE LIVES MATTER!!!

Dad,
Plain and simple, I miss you so much. So much has happened since you had to leave and this family will never be the same. You were our ROCK. I had another little boy and he has your first and middle name. He never got to know what a wonderful grandfather you were to my two older boys. We miss you and I can't wait to see you again one day. I love you.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fourth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered for your selfless and distinquished service to our country in the aftermath of 9/11. I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace

Dad, you were the most influential person in my life. Like a lot of people, this is something that I never fully realized until you left us. In your every fiber was a sense of duty, a desire to help people, and a firm knowledge of right and wrong. Whether patrolling the streets of the South Bronx, during the mid-1970’s or during your travels in Islamabad, with the Joint Terrorist Task Force, you moral compass remained steady. This permeated my life and gave me the guidance to also choose a career helping others. Your influence has reinforced my desire to help others through a career in law enforcement. Thank you.

I miss you and think about you every day. Happy Father's Day Dad. Save a place for me at Mamma's table.
