I was sitting on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol waiting for the National Peace Officers Memorial to begin when I received a call from my brother telling me the tragic news. Your last day here on Earth was a day set aside to remember heroes like you, Earl. I met you many years ago through a mutual friend, then worked with you when I was with the S.O. and later Dare Central. I remember you sharing your kindness & humor. I pray the Lord will wrap his loving arms around your family and carry them through the difficult days ahead for I know how hard & lonely the days can be. We know we will be reunited with our loved ones again in heaven but the days here without them are so difficult. I pray that your family will find some peace in their memories of you. Until we we see you on the other side......

I knew Earl for eleven years. We assited each other on several calls and our paths crossed numerous times over the past 11 years. It only takes a handshake and a few spoken words by someone that is genuine to realize who they really are. Earl had that genuine quality. A sincere and honest man right down to the core. Earl didnt know it but he taught every person that came in contact with him, what it menas to show respect and care for all, no matter thier station in life. I for one, learned some of those qualities just watching him.
To the family, may God put peace in your heart and understanding in your mind.
Keep an eye on us "Buddy Roe"....

The service was something. You would have really have to known this man to know what and who he was. What a great guy. He will always be remembered. Not just as a police officer. A father, a role model, and a friend. The officers that spoke at the service are also to be commended for there great comments. Everyone acted in such a respectful and outstanding way. The Nags Head Police Department should be also commended for their actions throughout the entire proceedings from the start to finish. Earl would be proud. DAGUMUP!

Sergeant Murray and Family
As I completed the Police Memorial Service for our agency on Friday I went home and prayed for ALL officers and had hoped that May 15th would be free of any in the Line of Duty Deaths. I appreciate your dedicate service and I am certain your family is proud of you and ALL of your accomplishments. I am very familiar with the OBX area and remain grateful for your service to that community!

You were one of the very first people to welcome me to Dare County, and have remained a very dear and close friend. The calls that we shared and the good times we had as friends will never be forgotten. To one of the most caring Law Enforcement Officers I have ever known, I salute you. 105 is 10-42

I am deeply saddened by the LOD death of Sergeant Dulan Earl Murray Jr. The heartfelt appreciation of a truly grateful American citizen goes out to the family and friends of Sergeant Murray, who served honorably and faithfully, answering the call of duty when he was needed.
I offer my sympathy and deepest condolences to his family, and that they are in my prayers during this time of grief. He is a true hero, and I hope the fact that he is honored by so many brings them some comfort in this time of loss. May they feel the comfort and love from across this nation embrace them and hold them up during this difficult time. We will not forget him and will forever be in his debt for all he has done for us.
The officers of the Nags Head Police Department are in my prayers during this dark time as they continue the mission of making our world a safer place. To each of you I say a big “Thank You” for doing what you do everyday. Thank you for going into “the office” when you don’t feel like it. Thank you for working the night shift when we are safe in bed. Thank you for putting on that uniform everyday. You are in my prayers.
