Deputy Chandler was my great-grandfather. His youngest daughter, Catherine Chandler Williams, was my grandmother.

The story of Isom's death made the front page of the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel on January 11, 1932. Portions of it read: "Isom Chandler was a good peace officer. He was known for his calmness, for his soberness, and quiet and deliberate way of attending to the duties of his position. He was born and reared in the Red Oak Community a few miles north of Nacogdoches County, his parents being pioneer people and among the best in the county or anywhere else for that matter."

Thank you for remembering him here.

Your heroism and service is honored today in the 77th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was shot twice when ambushed on April 23rd when he was on a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, 73 years after you were killed.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
