Your heroism and service is honored today, the 52nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

Thank you, John, for your sacrifice. Its a distressing thing to discover any officer has sustained injury or has been mortally wounded while discharging the duties required of an officer. Its a wonderful thing to find a way, such as this internet site, that allows renewed contact with the fact the officer made the supreme sacrifice and is not forgotten. This is part of the cost of freedom. It doesn't matter what the circumstances turn out to be. SGT. Griffin meant something to all of us and has remained in obscurity for decades now but the advent of our community's History Committee has been able to provide many details on our Venice Police Dept and we're so pleased with this site for that cooperation and support. Our town hasn't forgotten you.
We offer our condolences and prayers to the family and to the community.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was shot twice when ambushed on April 23rd when he was on a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, 45 years after you died.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
