There is nothing more honorable than serving your fellow man, and like many others before him, Detective Pearson performed the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the rights of others. It is with a heavy heart that I leave this reflection to honor the memory and the service that this fine man did for the citizens of Lenoir County. I am proud to say that I knew "Little Allen Pearson" and I personally thank him for the assistance that he has provided me throughout the past year while we helped each other investigate cases in our neighboring counties. Allen I just left your mom and dad's. Both said you died doing what you loved. There is no consolation or words to stop the hurt your family is feeling. I met Allen a few years ago. He was one of the best deputies I have ever met. Always a smile on his face. Never had a bad thing to say about anyone and always willing to help. A young man's life has been taken while he performed the duty of protecting his fellow citizens. Allen was a super nice guy, always ready to help anyone in need. I worked with Allen on a number of cases that involved crime in both Lenoir and Jones counties. Allen will be missed by many. My prayers for peace and comfort in this tragic time and condolences are with his father Major Ricky Pearson of the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office and the rest of his family.
