Eric, my friend,

Your heroic actions that morning will echo throughout eternity. My heart is broken. There is a hole there that will never be replaced until I rejoice with you in heaven. You gave your life so that others may live and I cannot wait to see you again and thank you. You are my hero.

My deepest sympathy for your family and friends you leave behind. We, Military Police and Civilian Police Officers do what we do to protect and serve. It is very unfortunate that we lose great people like these three fine Officers. They, like any other person who wears a badge, always serve with pride. Again, my condolences to all involved in this tragidy

Dear Officer Kelly,

I cannot believe this has happened to you and two of your fellow officers. For you and for your family as well as the other two officers and their families, hope that justice is served to the one responsible. You, Officer Kelly, eventhough I never met you ( and I would have been glad to have met you! ) , are an inspiration to me to never back down when it's my turn be in the same situation, yes I am trying to become a Police Officer. And a fraction of the great officer YOU were, if I am lucky.

With %100 respect and thoughts for you and your family,

Officer Kelly,
Sir I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice to your fellow Officers and the citizens of Pittsburgh. You are a true hero-off duty and on your way home-you didn't have to go, but you did-that says it all about the type of officer and person you are. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Officer Kelly was unselfish by giving his life to try to save the other officers, I am truly inspired by his actions and though I never knew him, believe he is one of the bravest officers I have ever heard of. God be with his family.

We know the ultimate price some are asked to pay.
We know it could be us,and yet we wear the badge another day.

We rush head long toward danger, without a second thought.
We fight, protecting freedoms those before us bought.

Each and every time, we hear another hero's down,
we stand with pride and honor, as they place him in the ground.

We hear the bag pipes blowing, salute the flags they fold.
As the heroes go to heaven to patrol the streets of gold.

Why do we keep on fighting with the dangers in the field?
Some say it's a calling, some the spirit of the shield.

You're a Policeman

Dedicated to the Officers of the Pittsburgh Police Department.

When the hours seem long and the going, rough
When the pay seems small and the criminals, tough
Just square your shoulders and call their bluff
Let them be the ones to cry, Enough
You're a Policeman.
When the public scoffs and the papers rave
And blame you alone for a new crime wave
They'll change quick enough when there're lives to save
For deep in their hearts they count you brave
You're a Policeman.
When you bid your loved ones goodbye each day
Don't be too sure you've the harder way
You shoot it out with the crook at bay
They're the ones who sit a home and pray
You're a Policeman.
When you get back home dog tired at night
And wonder if life's really worth the fight
Your cares will vanish and burdens seem light
If you've done your best and your conscience's right
You're a Policeman.
When promotion comes, as it surely will,
If you do your job an dare loyal still
Don't forget soon in your new found thrill
Those others who are plodding up the hill
You're a Policeman.
When you leave at last this worldly din
And seek, like mortals, Paradise to win
Saint Peter, I trust, will o'erlook ev'ry sin
And say, Well done, my boy, come right in.
You're a Policeman.

On behalf of the members of the Tampa Police Department, we send our deepest condolences.

Officer Kelly's story will be told to police academies for years to come, as his act of bravery was a true inspiration. One can not learn courage and devoution to his fellow officer like that in any training class. It's something that either is there or not. His heroic actions to save his colleague's defined him as a person and as a police officer.

God Bless his family and the members of the Pittsburgh Police Department.

Tampa Police Department, Fl

I certainly do not know you or your family. I pray that there is comfort for you in Christ. I lost my husband in 2005 and I have not recovered yet. Take your time family seek comfort when offered by friends, family and outsiders. I am sorry for your loss. It is only the good who leave us so early. Thank you family for allowing us to have a portion of your husband's life to watch over us. P. S. do not go alone to the cemetary the first time. People tried to tell me that but I could not see that as a big deal. Believe me it is. It is such a hard smack of reality.

Once again thank you family for sharing your husband and father with the City of Pittsburghers. May God Bless and keep you always; and allow God to carry all of you now. even though you don't understand the point.

The loss of an officer is felt throughout his/her agency and across the entire law enforcement community. The loss of three at one time breaks through even the toughest shells we build around ourselves in an attempt to carry on through these difficult times. My condolences to the family & fellow officers at Pittsburg Police Department.
