Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer John Raymond Hege

Our prayers go out to this hero's family and the Oakland area law enforcement, as well as ALL our law enforcement. We are so proud of Officer Hege's courage and grateful for the sacrifice he has made. He has protected the innocent, kept us safe and done an exceptional job - we are thankful for this wonderful officer - he is a hero who has displayed bravery in the face of danger. May the family know that the law enforcement community will always be there for you, even for a shoulder ... at this time, they might even need yours. God bless you.

Dear Police Officer John Hege's family, friends, and law enforcement brothers and sisters,

There are never the "right" words to get you through the next few days, weeks and months of grieving and mourning. As a law enforcement survivor, I can only wish and pray that God will support you and guide you to get you through this horrific time. We may never know nor understand why John was taken from us so soon. I will be thinking of you as you plan for the upcoming funerals, and even into the next few weeks as the awful reality of March 22nd sinks in.

"Final Call"

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.

Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

God be with you during this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To the family of Officer Hege: You are all in the thoughts and prayers of every LEO. We are all touched by the loss of Officer Hege and we are thankfull for his courage and service to his community. It's good to see that the savage that did this was dealt with the way he should have been dealt with, instead of wasting tax payer's money to hold him in a cell were he could brag to other savages or possibly be released one day for good behavior.

For Police Officer John Hege:

I submitted a tribute to Sergeant Daniel Sakai that included Sergeants Mark Dunakin and Ervin Romans. My prayer was that you would pull through. It was not to be.

My continued prayer is for you, your family, friends, the brave men mentioned above and the entire Oakland Police Department. We who wear the uniform look to you as the ultimate soldier-of-the-law. The loss of a single officer in the line-of-duty is a tragedy in itself, but the loss of four officers together, in a single incident, numbs both the mind and the soul. I firmly believe that all who wear a badge, and believe in what we do, walk with a heavy heart this day. The legion of officers that have died before you, and have just received our heros Dan, Mark and Ervin, at the evergreen shores of eternity, now await to embrace you as the last hero among them. Receive them knowing you have joined the best among us.

To you I render a final salute.
