I NEVER KNEW YOU MY FALLEN BROTHERS. YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW YOU AND THOSE OF US WHO SERVE BEHIND THE SAME THIN BLUE LINE THAT SEPERATES GOOD AND EVIL. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER HAS 4 NEW OFFICERS TO WALK THE STREETS OF HEAVEN. YOUR TIME ON EARTH WAS CUT SHORT BY A COWARD, AND HAS LEFT AN ENORMOUS CRATER IN OUR HEARTS. YOU ARE GONE BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL.

Although, I did not know any of the four officers personally, words cannot express the amount of grief and sorrow I feel for the entire family of the Oakland Police Department and for the private families of these officers. This was a cruel and senseless occurrence that will do nothing but leave a gaping hole of shock, sadness and confusion in the midst of our already fragile society.

Please know that with every passing day we are extremely grateful and appreciative of the service of these officers and the entire staff of the Oakland Police Department. The City of Oakland could not properly function without your protection and dedication.

May God bless the passing of these officers and protect those who protect us.

THANK YOU.

My heart is breaking for your families because I know what it feels like to get that call that your husband, friend, and loved one is gone all too soon. I lost my husband in February 2007 in the line of duty also. I know that most of your close friends and family wont even read this until days, weeks, or months down the road because its too difficult or time consuming. But when they do get to read it, it will be important for them to understand that they are NOT alone! There is a huge support system out there waiting for you to be ready to accept us.

We are not a group any of you want to be a part of, but we are here nonetheless and we are praying and thinking about all and our hearts are broken with yours. Please draw strength from knowing that John will be greeted in heaven by the brothers and sisters that have fallen before him, and they will show him around up there! They will help him send strength your way so that you can be patient in the time it takes to be with him again.

RIP JOHN HEGE, we will take it from here.
