Although, I did not know any of the four officers personally, words cannot express the amount of grief and sorrow I feel for the entire family of the Oakland Police Department and for the private families of these officers. This was a cruel and senseless occurrence that will do nothing but leave a gaping hole of shock, sadness and confusion in the midst of our already fragile society.
Please know that with every passing day we are extremely grateful and appreciative of the service of these officers and the entire staff of the Oakland Police Department. The City of Oakland could not properly function without your protection and dedication.
May God bless the passing of these officers and protect those who protect us.
THANK YOU.

My heart is breaking for your families because I know what it feels like to get that call that your husband, friend, and loved one is gone all too soon. I lost my husband in February 2007 in the line of duty also. I know that most of your close friends and family wont even read this until days, weeks, or months down the road because its too difficult or time consuming. But when they do get to read it, it will be important for them to understand that they are NOT alone! There is a huge support system out there waiting for you to be ready to accept us.
We are not a group any of you want to be a part of, but we are here nonetheless and we are praying and thinking about all and our hearts are broken with yours. Please draw strength from knowing that Daniel will be greeted in heaven by the brothers and sisters that have fallen before him, and they will show him around up there! They will help him send strength your way so that you can be patient in the time it takes to be with him again.
RIP DANIEL SAKAI, we will take it from here.

God bless your family in these terrible trying times.
To your family:
You have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the public they died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
