My heartfelt condolences to the family of Sergeant Daniel Sakai in this darkest hour. May God Bless and keep you in his arms today and always. Rest in peace, Dan. God, I am so sad to hear of this loss.
To the friends and family of Sgt. Sakai: I am absolutely shocked at this tragedy. I knew Dan from my days in college when we were CSOs at the UC Berkeley police department. He was my supervisor and he was always fair, upstanding, funny, professional and very sharp. I can't believe he is now gone, and I am truly sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace, and I wish peace and comfort to all of you he left behind.

To the Family, Friends, OPD and the community,
This is a sad day for all of us, I feel like I have lost a part of my family. To know the the OPD is upstairs, they come and go,and sometimes I walk to my car late in the evening, they sit or let us drive off, makes me feel safe, and secure they are there. To see them everyday is a breath of fresh air and relief, I am sometimes scared to go out on the streets and always wondering am I going to be in the line of fire. He and along with all of the officers calms my fears and I will continue to pray for the others and for him as he is now in God's army, protecting us from a higher power. No words can mend your or our broken heart, but time will mend the pain.
God Bless You All and Continue to Do the Great Things you all do and I am so sad that all these good people had to loose their lives. It really hurts and I just feel so bad for the whole situation. This lost that has left a bad mark on our lives, the families, the OPD and it is very painful and we are in shock too.

After nearly 28 years as a 911 Dispatcher, one of my greatest fears had been loosing an officer on my shift. I cannot imagine what your dispatchers; your whole department family must be going through right now. But I just wanted all of you to know you are not alone, that the prayers of a nation, and the strength and love of the Lord are upon you.
With heartfelt sympathies and regret on your loses,

My heart goes out to Sakai's family family to think that such an act could be committed again. Just 3 1/2 years our family went thru the same thing when our Hank Nava FWPD was gunned down. The shooter was also a felon on parole trying to avoid arrest. Our prayer are being said for your families during these trying times. RIP fallen Hero

"No greater love has a man than to lay down his life for his friends." Saturday Sgt. Sakai and these other fine officers laid down their lives for their friends... The City of Oakland California. My prayer is for the families that someday God will give them peace and understanding for the sacrifice made by you and your loved one as he made the ultimate sacrifice.
Rest in Peace my Brother.

This was a great loss for their fellow police officers, the people they were charged to protect, and this nation. In God’s providence they sought and were selected to be police officers, and thus they were rulers ordained by God spoken of in the Book of Romans, chapter thirteen, verses one through seven.
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.”
Even so, some men and woman ordained of God to carry the power of life and death must become victims of the evil doers, just like soldiers on a battle field; but the righteousness of God shall prevail, either in this life or the next. Thus it was that the power residing in other officers put an end to the rebellious, unfruitful, unloving, evil existence of the miscreant and minion of Satan who took their lives. Contrary to those he slew in the performance of their duty to God, the People, and the Country, he was out of the body and standing in judgment before God Almighty, without a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Consequently, he will suffer forever in a Godless, Hell; full of darkness and a fire that gives no light. He shall never see light again. Neither shall he meet another lost soul in that place. He is now alone and will be alone for eternity. For the Scriptures condemn his soul by saying this: “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. (1 John 3:15) Praise God though, these men who I hope and pray were indeed children of God, are, therefore, “out of the body and present with the Lord,” (II Corinthians 5:8) in whom there is Life, Love, and Pleasures Forever. But, for he that slew them though, just like the minion of Satan that betrayed our Lord, it would have been better for him, “...if he had never been born.” (Mark 14:21 & Matthew 26:24)
