I am very sorry for the loss to the family and friends of Sergeant hero Romans. I pray God's peace and comfort on you through the days ahead. When it doesn't seem like you will yourself survive, take one more step, hanging on to God's hand all the way. Your hero is watching and encouraging you. God bless you all and all law enforcement officers and their families.

Many mourn with you at this time in the loss of your loved one...Yet we also honor the life that was lived so well.

I am having a difficult time finding words that are sufficient. Many are praying for Oakland P.D., and the friends and family. Stay strong. I am sure that this man, who was so great at all that he did, would want his friends and family to do the same.

I would like to extend my prayers and thoughts to you, your family and all of the members of the Oakland Police Department. It is always difficult to lose a fellow Peace Officer, but it is a tragedy to lose four brothers in one incident. All of you made the ultimate sacrifice and will never be forgotten. No matter if your uniform is blue or tan, we all wear black socks and take care of each other. You made the ultimate scarifice and have earned the title of Hero. As you approach the gates in the clouds, the angels you can tell, "Another Police Officer reporting for duty, I've done my time in Hell". Rest in Peace Brother

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Sgt. Romans. Words cannot convey what I feel now, nor ever could, every time I heard of a fellow officer's death "in the line of duty."

Ernie Pyle, the great World War II correspondent, reported that he saw a British General viewing a battle field in Europe after a major action there. As the General looked at the fallen GI's, all he could say was "...Brave men, brave men."

"…They were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Dear Sgt. Romans: You were one squared away Marine!!! Of course you charged in to get this cop killer because he had just shot two of your brothers!!!! You wanted to keep the citizens of Oakland safe from this idiot and this threat had to be terminated for anyone to be safe that day!!

Our hearts are heavy at your loss and "thank you for your sacrifice and service" just rings too hollow. But that is all I can offer to express gratitide for keeping everyone safe when others fear to help.

I'm sure you were welcomed to Heaven by other blue angels. Please send my love to my beloved CHPs up there.

God bless your family and give them strength to get through this awful time. They will feel you on the breeze and in every breath they take.
