Your heroism and service is honored today, the 78th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
The working conditions in the mines in Harlan County were deplorable and good men on both sides lost their lives, in great part to the corporate greed of big business who didn't care enough about the safety of the miners or the law enforcement who had to enter into the frey of labor disputes. It would be interesting to know if the owner of that mine helped the family of this fallen officer.
Rest In Peace.
