I'm so sorry for your family's loss. My fiancee asked me if I knew why all the flags were at half-staff today? I looked online to read about this tragedy.

For Deputy Sheriff Chad Mechels:

When a law officer is dispatched to any incident he/she knows not what will be encountered. The simplest of calls for assistance might devolve into the worst that can happen to us. It is out lot. We serve and protect.

That someone might intentionally shoot a law officer doing his/her duty is among the most depraved acts that a person might commit. Only the worst among us would do such a deed for they lack any respect nor possess no honor.

Deputy Chad Mechels might have lost his life on this day, but his slayer has not succeeded taking away his family, his friends and his thousands of brothers and sisters who enforce the law and keep the order. Chad Mechels now stands as a hero among us and we'll remember him forever as a member of the legion of law officer heros who have died before him.

To Deputy Chad Mechels I render a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police

My family would like to send our deepest sympathies to the family of Chad Mechels. Your pain is felt by many. Chads brothers of Law Enforcement will not forget a man that knew as their brother even if they never met him. Sunday, March 15 will always be a day no one will forget. For my family it will be marked as a day we lost one of our brothers that worked to make a difference. A man who stood up to the plate to try and make a safer place for people like me. Chad you will not be forgotten. Today is your funeral and we will now stand up and salute you for everything you did for us but even though you are not here on earth with us I know that even now as you are in heaven looking down you are still backing up those who will entering on duty.
You will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

To the Family Friends and Brothers in Blue. With my deepest sympathy that I am writing on this page. For those of us that have lived through your pain right now at least as loosing a fellow brother in blue. Bill Davis EOW 11-03-03. I know that the pain your feeling now seems that it will never go away. I am here to tell you that the pain will fade into determination and compassion for the oppertunity to step up and fill in the needs of the next immeidate and blue family has to deal with the pain that you feel right now. Just becuase your pain will fade will not mean that you have forgotten just redirected. There are still days I think of Bill, infact most days. Our promise is in Gods word and through him comfort will settle in as we konw that we will meet again and that Chad will never have to worry while on duty again of what if. A hero is not made by the person but how the person lives there life. REST IN PEACE CHAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your watch here is over you go rest and we will pick up from here.
