I was one block away on the other side of the septa station with my partner serving a warrant that night. I herd the gun shots, but we couldn't tell where they came from with all the buildings. Then the broadcast came over J band. We arrived to see John pulled into a car and driven to Einstein Hospital. At first they said the shooter was still on the run and a flash of the description was broadcasted. My partner and I were running up and down the alley ways until everything was sorted out and an update was broadcasted.

May you rest in peace John! Though we never met I lived just around the corner from you when you were growing up! I remember the night this happened I was away up the mountains with my wife & some friends, coworkers.... As soon as we heard we called HQ to see if we should return to the city to assist in the investigation. Although we were told there was no need to, that's just the way we are.... Very sobering weekend after hearing this terrible news... May God Bless your soul John.
