Hi Sgt,
Today we laid you to rest. You would have been proud of your daughter, she displayed so much grace and strength, she brought us peace without knowing it. The community banded together in honor of your service... Although the sky itself is sad today, I know you are watching over all of us. 10-42 today, but forever in our hearts.
In honor of 402, Visalia 1 clear. 2/13/09 2038hrs.

Peace, prayers and blessings to Greg's family, friends and co-workers. Greg, may you rest in peace. I will never forget you!
"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget."

Sergeant Hernandez,
Today they will lay your body to rest. Deep into the ground. They will say their words and sound their guns in your name. And then, they will leave. But, we will always remember you. We will never forget your name. Never forget your life and your service.
You've done your time, Brother. Now you're home with God. My thoughts and prayers to your family.

Sergeant Greg Hernandez,
Nobody knows why or how or even if any of us in law enforcement will die while serving others. Rationalization and speculation means little. Each of us begin our shift and then make decisions and take action on what we believe to be correct. The rest is simply fate. We are neither compelled to embrace this, nor forced to believe this -- as it is just so. What matters most is how we react. We can criticize. Place blame. And, second-guess. Or, we can just accept this. It is our lot. We chose a lifestyle -- not an occupation. We are soldiers of the law.
Still, we grieve and we feel the pain as we are a family. Sergeant Greg Hernandez is our brother. He has made a huge sacrifice. We honor him both as a caring leader and valiant hero among heros.
To Sergeant Hernandez I render a final salute.

I'm sure Sgt. Hernandez was just like me and like so many other police officers and deputies. We are in such a hurry to get there and help out our brother's, sometimes accidents occur and we lose our lives because of it. I read about all the officers that are being killed on the road and it makes me think twice about the way I drive. It's the way we're built. We cant help it, we try and get there and make everything alright. Rest in peace my brother and I pray for your family during these difficult times.
