Without a doubt, the next several days will be occupied with arranging various details of a funeral for today’s loss. The funeral will soon be complete, but, I am sure that the family will continue to grief for some time.
As I write I can’t help but think how shallow, hollow, and futile any words of mine must be to describe our loss in comparison to the family’s grief and anguish. The words I chose are of no consequence in comparison to that of the absence of a father, husband, brother, son, or boyfriend.
We can only pray that our Heavily Father assuage your loss of this, your most outrageous fortune. On behalf of a grateful nation, a somber law enforcement community and a saddened neighborhood, we can only pray that the Grand Architect of the Universe takes Jarod's soul into his loving hands. Only you, the family of the fallen, truly appreciate the sacrifice that has been laid upon the alter of freedom. Please know that he can rest in peace knowing that we have his watch from here, for he has completed his tour of duty.

Jarod, I'm so incredibly glad I met you. That night we talked, I thought you were an awesome person. After our conversation-I was soo excited for wednesday. I really think you have the most amazing personality, you are one of the best people I have ever met. I just want you to know, I will never forget you, I really like you, I really cared about you. I only wish we had more time, that I had more time to get to know more about you. I miss you, so much. Please, rest in peace, and know that I will always remember you.
