Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Town Marshal Walter G. Nicholas

115 years today you were murdered by a belligerent patron at a restaurant. Your service and sacrifice are honored today. You will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace Marshal Nichols.

As for the patron. Justice was truly served. The suspect was shot by the marshal and was in a dying condition when angry citizens seized and hanged him.

On the 100th anniversary of Marshal Nichols' death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Marshal Nichols is not forgotten.
