At this years MACP Summer conference at Shanty Creek, Mason received The Police Cross for paying the ultimate price for doing his job. I watched as Mason's wife and parents stood on the stage in front of a room full of administrators and accepted the award.

I want to thank Sarah and Mr. and Mrs. Samborski for not only being courageous but for attending this years event. My thoughts and prayers are with you. The standing ovation that was given was to show our respect to Mason and to the three of you. You will forever be in our thoughts and prayers.

I am packing my bags for our trip to Washington DC. Your memorial t-shirt will be right on top. We are making the trip this year, not only to honor Mark Sawyers
5-year "anniversary", but to honor you and to lend support to your friends and family. It is a bittersweet journey, one that cannot be described or prepared for. Just know that we will be there for you and we will see your loved ones through it.

Rest peacefully Mason

What's up bra,

Just sitting here thinking about all the fun times we had together. Even though you are gone, it is so unreal. We miss you and every day I put on the uniform I think of you. Even though we never got to say goodbye I know you have my back. Look on us down here and know that we truely miss you. Talk to ya soon. By the way, this season of Hell's Kitchen is great.

Poor Samborski all he wanted to do was to return the to a parent or guardain but sadly he never got the chance instead he was fatally shot to death by his own gun, not only that but he left his highschool sweetheart and wife Sarah, and his 13 month old daughter Madeline Grace(1) but a bad sacrifice to pay.

never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last

We are so saddened by the loss of Officer Samborski. His family and fellow officers are in our thoughts and prayers each day. Each probation officer in this department had the opportunity to work with Officer Samborski and he was a terrific police officer and person. To Mrs. Samborski and precious Madeline, a little comforting poem that I am sure you have read before but for me has always given me some level of comfort. After all, Mason is now eternally being carried by our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my precious child, is when I carried you.”

Sent with utmost respect and sorrow,
