Reflections for Officer Joseph Paul Sanders
My thoughts are with all of your loved ones on this first anniversary of you being called away from duty. I have no magical words to offer them to help them with their grief, only for them to keep your memory alive for others to realize the hero you are. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones. You have not been forgotten.

All of my Friends and Family... As I approach the first anniversary of Joe's death I am overwhelmed with feelings. Our children and I miss him terribly. But all of your kind words and thoughts help us to remember that losing him was not for nothing. He was a selfless man and he died trying to help his brothers and sisters keep all of us safe. While the loss will always be with me it brings my heart joy to know that so many people remember the sacrifice he made and that he died doing what he loved.
Please keep us in your prayers and hold us close on December 15th.
Thanks be to all of you. Peace be with the families of the over 19,ooo officers lost in our country to date. And may these guardian angels be with all of our men and women in uniform as they fight to keep us safe.

I never had the privilege of meeting Ofc Sanders, but as a current police officer and former Marine myself, I feel I can speak for his character. Joseph was a member of two very special fraternities, the US Marine Corps & public law enforcement. As a Marine recruit years ago, I was told "Marines never die, they will live on forever in the name of the Corps". The same is true in law enforcement. To Joseph's family & friends; take comfort in knowing that every time you hear the Marine Corps hymn, see a police car glide by on patrol or streak past with lights & siren going to an emergency run.....Joseph is there! He will live forever thru the lives of those he touched and all who wear a badge.

As I take a breathe into the sadness of the GoogleNews...I go within for my appreciation of those who choose to serve and wear the uniform. It is a passion of love that the Soul cannot deny. This lose 'to serve' reflects how so many speed through life unconsciously without being aware of each moment. I have always respected the uniforms that serve. As the grief process comes, may all remember that...Love Is The Answer. Love Is The Only Answer. Thank you 'GI Joe'

Although I never knew you personally, I felt the depth of losing you. Regardless of never knowing you, you are my brother. I pray that the Lord God comforts your family in this difficult time. The calling that you answered was high and I promise you that you hold a special place in God's heart. To your children, know that your Daddy is a hero above all else.
