Reflections for Special Agent Samuel Steele Hicks
To the Agent:
Rest in peace. You are now in a great place waiting for your loved ones. You served proudly and may GOD and we honor you for ever. Now seat back and relax, you are a legend.
To the family:
I now your pain. I know your fears. Just rest assures you will be ok. Be strong and brave. Honor the man you knew and make sure his son never forgets the kind of person he was/is. Sleep a bit easier knowing he is next to all of you, protecting all of you. GOD blesses you all.

• A PART OF AMERICA DIED.... Somebody killed a policeman today .... And a part of America died…. A piece of our country he swore to protect .... Will be buried with him at his side.... The beat that he walked was a battlefield too,.... Just as if he had gone off to war, .... Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast .... To his name they will add a gold star.... The suspect that shot him will stand up in court .... With counsel demanding his rights,.... While a young widowed mother must work for her kids .... And spend many long, lonely nights... .. Yes, somebody killed a policeman today…. Maybe in your town or mine,.... While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors.... A cop put his life on the line.... Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street, .... And he stands at each new rookie's side; .... He answered the call… of himself gave his all,.... And a part of America died.

To the Family and Agency:
My heart aches for you at this time. Leaving behind a wife and young son is almost more than I can stand. My son was 25 and he also had a young wife and children (daughter 18 months old and a son 22 days old.
My prayers and thoughts are with you today, tomorrow and always. As hard as it is you will make it through one day at a time.
May it help in some small way to know others care.

I was very sad when I arrived at work today and heard that you had been killed in the line of duty. We all know that every day that we go to work could be our last day. You strapped on your badge and went out to make the world a better place. Rest in peace and know that we will never forget you and your sacrifice. May God bless you and console your family.
