Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Lawrence Wilhelm Canfield

Larry was the one (along with a few co-conspirators) that would hide my motor while I was giving shift briefing. I know he enjoyed watching me search for my bike; now he cohorts willhave to do the dirty work, and he can delight from on high.

I never had the great pleasure of knowing Deputy Canfield, however; I have had the honor of working with a few of his fellow brothers and sisters. I can say the men and woman I have met and worked with from SSD have always impressed me.

I am sorry for the loss of a fellow member of our LE Family and will pray for Larry, his wife, children, family, friends and the entire SSD Family.

Thank you for your service Deputy Canfield, you now have your final set of wings. Fly high and safe, continue to watch over all of us as we continue the fight.

While not an SSD employee, I was privileged to have met Larry on numerous occasions. The stogie is what we all notice first, but that sense of humor and good nature are what made him memorable.

You will be missed by all that knew you. No words can express the emotion we have all felt over the past week. Nothing said can ease the suffering of SSD, RCPD, and Larry's family - but know that we're praying for you and will be here to support you in any way we can.

I had the honor of attending your memorial service today. When we lay a fellow brother to rest it's always a sad affair and this was no exception. That having been said I've never heard a room laugh so often. That laughter at a time of such great sorrow was a tribute to the man you were and the amazing family and friends you have. Michelle you were quite simply, amazing. God bless you and your boys. Larry you have left a mark upon this profession and community that will last forever and that is all any of us could ask for. Rest in peace your tour is complete we have the watch.
