Reflections for Detective Joseph M. Airhart, Jr.
You've fought the noble fight and now God has called you home. Return to Him in honor, my brother, and rest forever in peace. Thank you for your selfless sacrifice. You are my Hero!

Joe,
I remember you assisting me on a traffic stop once in 011 many years ago with a man with a gun. You were a gentleman and your impression lasted. While we did not know each other, the incident affected the entire police department when it occurred. There was anger and sadness throughout the department. Now that you are in a better place, I hope you will continue to watch over us and cover our backs from Heaven.

CPD Unit 606/Cold Case

Joe, every time a police officer is murdered, it is a horrific, catastrophic occurrence. Your situation, however defies description. The sacrifice you've made the last 7 years is so unfair . . . you've paid SO much. You are so honorable, such a warrior, such a policeman. Your picture reflects so much. You definitely look like the kind of officer who would be leading an FBI Task Force into the danger zone. You look strong, bright, capable. You look like a good troop, a great guy. I know in my heart you possessed all those qualities. When I hear "Chicago," I'll now think of a tough Task Force, Chicago Detective, who gave "all" and then some. I honor you Joe, your name, your service and now, your memory. I will never forget your story, your picture. I wish I could have known and worked with you. With utmost respect and brotherly love,
Jim Crotty (former Richmond, VA Police Officer).
