Rich, I did not know you personally, but wish I had from the accounts and stories shared by fellow co-workers at the training ceter. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and fellow officers. Not everyone has what it takes to put life and limb on the line, and know that I have the utmost respect and admiration for those that do, for you stood that lonely watch, keeping us safe from the evils of man. May your strength and dedication to duty live on in the memories of your fellow law enforcement brethren - what greater way to honor you and the sacrifice you have made. God bless you and those who continue the good fight.

"A HERO IS"......
One who never hesitates to tackle the most difficult problems,
One who is always by your side,
One who knows right from wrong,
One who acts with pride.
A hero touches everyone one of us,
whether it be word or deed,
Always tending to those who find themselves in need.
When a hero leaves this earth, yes, it's sad, but true
All too many times, the hero is dressed in blue.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Mark's wife, children and family. I'll always remember his smile, fun-natured side and especially those eyes. He always had time to stop what he was doing and spend a few minutes catching up whenever I popped by his office. He was just a nice guy to be around. May your many wonderful memories of Mark carry you through the days ahead.

I am so sorry this happened to another good officer. I worked business delivery in that area and the officers there deal with so much and I respect them all. Your service and dedication will be remembered in the hearts of those you touched. May the streets of heaven be paved with peace, love and tranquility for you. Hugs, Crissy

God Bless you, Mark. But most of all, may God comfort and strengthen your wife & children. You were a great friend and collegue. You took the time to show me the ropes 5 years ago at the Alt Sent program but, moreover, never stopped being a friend after the job was done. I really appreciated our friendship - you will be sadly missed! - Paul

To have worked with Mark, first with Community Services then as an Officer was a true honor. He was a proud Father and Husband who always bragged about his children and wife. We had several laughs about yappy Yorkies. He walked around with my girls at the fair last year and to this day they thought it was "cool" to have Officer Mark walk around with them. My husband and I thank you for this memory for our girls. The best memory I have is Mark saying he hated to talk because he did not like his PA accent b/c it made him sound stupid.....I hope he realized there was nothing he could have said in life to make him sound stupid. Thank you for being a friend, co-worker and protector of my family.
