Such a young, promising, and brave woman... I am saddened every time a law enforcement officer dies on duty, but sometimes even more so when it's someone who has just started their career and is still learning the ups and downs of the profession...and still deciding which path they want to take. I instinctively want to be angry at the teen who killed this young woman, but of course the Lord wouldn't want that. It doesn't help mitigate the anger at the situation, though.

I wish the family of Deputy Jones and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office the best. You are clear for 10-42, Deputy Jones. God Bless you.

Sarah.... or Say-rah as I called you in the academy!! It is hard to believe that you are gone. It was just a few weeks ago when I was talking to you on the phone. You are a beautiful girl and will be truly missed. I hated to see you leave Montgomery, but at least we had the phone and e-mail. I know that our job is not the safest one, but I never imagined that I would see the day that one of us would get hurt or die in the line of duty. It seems like it was just yesterday when we were in the academy giving the guys a run for their money!! And at the end we were the only girls left standing, the “Bobbsey Twins”. I pray for Chris' strength in the days to come. I know how much you meant to each other. I am honored to have known such a smart and dedicated person. We are just getting started and you had so much to offer, but I know that you are watching down on us and cheering us on. Rest in peace…
